Mushroom Hunting Summer Lecture Series

Posted by NormanBirdSanctuaryo

About the Program:

Join us at the Norman Bird Sanctuary to learn about the many types of mushrooms in our region. While some are poisonous, others are simply delicious, and all are fascinating to learn about.

Join Ryan Bouchard and Emily Schmidt, New England’s leading mushroom hunting teachers for a slideshow featuring local photography. Bouchard and Schmidt will explain the basics of wild mushroom science and safety, and the local in-season species that are considered ideal for beginners to cook with.

Please note that collecting is strictly prohibited at the Norman Bird Sanctuary.

This class will show you inside a whole world of adventure that most people overlook. This lecture is the first in a four-part series. Join us for a summer series of Mushroom Hunting Walk and Talk’s to get an up-close look at local fungi.

About the Guest Lecturers:

Ryan T. Bouchard is the author and photographer of the groundbreaking book Gourmet Mushrooms of the Northeast 2019. Emily Schmidt also studies our local mushroom species and their nutritional values and teaches creative cooking that highlights their many unique flavors. Together they created The Mushroom Hunting Founding, and they have educated thousands of people about safely enjoying America’s wild mushrooms.
