What happens when a friendship built on shared history suddenly becomes the center of a mystery? On February 28 at 6pm, readers can explore that question firsthand as Ink Fish Books welcomes USA TODAY bestselling author Danielle Girard and acclaimed novelist Vanessa Lillie for an intimate authors-in-conversation event in Warren.
The independent, woman-owned bookstore will host the duo for an evening centered around Girard’s latest thriller Pinky Swear, a pulse-pounding story that begins with a simple act of trust and spirals into a desperate search for truth. In the novel, Lexi’s lifelong best friend Mara offers to become her surrogate. Their bond seems stronger than ever until Mara vanishes just four days before the baby’s due date.
As Lexi launches a cross-country search, the story unravels long-buried secrets from their past and asks how far someone will go to protect what they love most. The result is a high-stakes tale of loyalty, betrayal, and motherhood that has already drawn strong praise. Author Jeneva Rose calls the book “visceral, tense, and shocking,” while Ashley Winstead describes it as “riveting, intense, and unputdownable.”
Girard, known for crafting character-driven suspense, has built a devoted following through her novels and her popular Killer Women Podcast, where she interviews leading voices in crime fiction. Her appearance alongside Vanessa Lillie offers readers a chance to step beyond the page and into the creative minds behind the stories.
Guests at Ink Fish Books can expect an engaging conversation about the themes behind Pinky Swear, opportunities to meet both authors, and book signings following the discussion. Light refreshments will be served, and copies of their books will be available for purchase in store and online. Tickets are required for this event.
