Last weekend the weather was gorgeous, and it was Memorial Day with parades and barbecues. On top of that is was a long weekend. How can this ordinary spring/summer weekend with mediocre weather compete? We'll show you.

Saturday's weather wont stop the Great Chowder Cook-Off from being the largest chowder competition world-wide. This year it falls on Saturday, June 2 and as always, is held at the Newport Yachting Center. Spend the day on the coast and sample the competition from 12pm to 6pm for just $20-$25.

The Newport International Polo Series kicks off at the historic Glen Farm in Portsmouth. The games begin with USA vs. Ghana this Saturday at 5pm.

Do you want an actiion-packed Friday night that you can bring the kids to without spending a fortune at the movies or an arcade? Head down to the Seekonk Speedway for the first Fast Friday Races. Tickets are just $6 and the races begin at cool dusk, 7:00pm. That address is 1710 Fall River Ave in Seekonk.

The Mount Hope Farmers Market is happening at 9:00am this weekend in Bristol. It features locally grown goods, plus live music and livestock. Spend the day shopping and walking the trails.

If you are a Bank of America or Merrill Lynch customer you can have an educational weekend at some of Rhode Island's great museums for free. Participants include the RISD Museum, the Newport Art Museum, and the Providence Children's Museum.
