The Newport Torpedo Station: 150 Years

Join us at Peace Dale Library on Monday, April 22, 6 PM, with historian Brian Wallin for a look at the history of the Newport Torpedo Station. Established in 1869 to develop underwater defenses, the Station played an important role in WWII, employing 14,000 people. See rare images and hear about torpedoes gone astray in the Bay, as well as Newport's current role in underwater defense. Free, open to the public. Registration recommended at 401-789-1555 xt 108.
