In our current day and age, aided by modern technology, we know what's coming weather-wise at nearly all times. But in 1938, that wasn't the case. On Sunday, Sept. 16, starting at NOON (departing from Al Forno), this walking tour will examine how a disastrous hurricane took most New Englanders by surprise. While the storm ravaged the region, we’ll focus on the stories of downtown Providence and its architecture, sharing unique stories of people who were in the city when the storm hit. The walk will also touch on what was happening nationally and globally in 1938, as well as what would come afterward.

Our staff has discovered truly remarkable stories that happened in Providence during the Hurricane of 1938. We’re looking forward to showing people how greatly the city changed because of a surprise surge in only a few hours. We’re expecting this to be one of our best tours yet. All sales final.
