The more you learn about The Beatrice, the more smitten you become. While the 47-room luxury boutique hotel is indeed swanky – with a stunning lobby, beautifully appointed rooms, Bellini restaurant, and its exclusive rooftop space – there is a palpable warmth at every turn. Former Providence mayor, diplomat, and real estate developer Joe Paolino, Jr. named the stunning downtown property after his beloved mother, Bea Temkin, a true influencer long before hashtags. Endearing tributes to the matriarch abound, from a mesmerizing mosaic portrait in the lobby to her handwritten signature in the branding, and initiatives like Bea's Gift Guide, of which I’m honored to have been selected as a contributor this year.
Back in September, Jennifer Curtin, The Beatrice general manager, invited me to participate in the Holiday Gift Guide. My assigned category was Gift for Your Squad: Surprises for the Girl Gang. The mission: share a gift from a business that shines during the holiday season and explain why it's the perfect present to give or receive, and to weigh a range of options, from substantial to modest, with consideration to businesses owned by women and underrepresented groups.
