Mark your calendars for this weekend’s Good Trade Makers Market taking over the WaterFire Arts Center on November 18 and 19. This two-day extravaganza promises an immersive shopping experience, bringing together nearly 100 independent makers and small manufacturers from across the country.
Organized by the duo behind Rhode Island-based Ampersand Creative Co., BJ Mansuetti and Robin Dionne, The Good Trade holds a unique position in supporting small businesses. Mansuetti emphasizes, “We believe that for small makers to grow, they need opportunities to meet new shoppers outside of their immediate communities, in addition to receiving support from their local area.” This philosophy forms the backbone of the event, creating a platform for local Rhode Island artisans, as well as making space for out-of-state vendors.
Since its inception in 2021, The Good Trade Makers Market has become a beacon for thousands of shoppers across New England. In 2022, the event expanded its reach to Burlington, VT, opening avenues for Rhode Island businesses to explore new markets. Today, The Good Trade generates an estimated $600,000 in revenue annually for participating small businesses. The popular Plinko for a Cause game returns this year, allowing shoppers to donate $5 to play and win prizes provided by The Good Trade and event vendors. All funds raised will benefit Riverzedge Arts, a Woonsocket-based non-profit offering paid work-based learning opportunities for teens in art and design.
Advance tickets are currently on sale for $8 and can also be purchased at the door for $10. The ticket price covers a complimentary beverage from sponsors, small hot coffee from New Harvest Coffee Roasters, Topo-Chico Sparkling Mineral Water, or a small ice cream from Gather Farm.
