Food and Flicks for the Fam

Posted

Too many New England summer nights end with dessert. Once that sundae is devoured, families head home to sofas and Netflix. Schultzy’s Snack Shack in Portsmouth wants to help extend the evening – with motion pictures. Schultzy’s boasts traditional summertime items like hamburgers, hot dogs, sundaes, and milkshakes, and they also light things up with their outdoor movie nights, which screen all summer.

Families can come in on Wednesdays from early June to mid-August to enjoy a meal and ice cream, served through an old-school order window. At sundown, the staff projects a family movie like Kung Fu Panda or Toy Story. Visitors sit on brightly colored picnic tables.

“This is a family friendly place with a water view,” says Deb Schultz, who owns the seasonal eatery with her husband Kurt. “We sell fresh seafood and grind our meat for the burgers every day. The New England clam chowder and clam cakes are both great recipes people are sure to enjoy. Our ice cream comes from Giffords in Maine and is amazingly creamy. We just love it.” Portsmouth
