Wes’ Rib House is a Rhode Island tradition that has stood the test of time since 1976. Famously located on Dike Street in Providence’s hip and artsy West Side, the restaurant is also famous for its BBQ. Wood-fired and smoked, ribs right.fully take center stage. The sweet-smelling aroma will hit you every time you walk into the dining room, practically begging you to sit down and order. Slow cooked for hours, St. Louis ribs and spare ribs are topped off with Wes’ sweet and tangy Kansas City-style BBQ sauce. Pulled pork, chicken, salmon and steaks are also on the menu, along with grilled vegetable, salads and gluten-free options. Another tradition here is the affordable and family friendly prices. Heaping plates of meat served with mouthwatering cornbread, cole slaw and BBQ beans are all under $20.
The loyal and welcoming staff, led by owner Michael Solomon, provide an authentic experience at every visit. Some staff members, like the head pit chef and the day smoker, have been in the kitchen for over 20 years. The consistency of good, old-fashioned flavors and service has earned Wes’ multiple awards and a feature in The New York Times. A new first floor addition in 2012 not only expanded the dining room and lounge options, but also offers a modern presentation to the Onleyville classic. Catering, offered onsite in the spacious event room or offsite – for everything from office lunches to receptions – delivers a true taste of a backyard BBQ with every tasty bite.
