We taste test the Bay's most tantalizing Valentine's confections
The French Confection These homemade truffles were truly a decadent treat. The one we sampled was a dark chocolate ganache with a light hint of cognac that brightened up the over all flavor. With a nice sprinkling of crushed nuts on the outside, these cozy chocolates were to die for. 72 East Main Rd., Middletown. 401-619-7816.
The Greenery These sea salt caramel delights are vegan, so you can feel free to indulge on any diet. Made with 70% dark cacao and a creamy caramel filling comprising of smooth coconut milk and palm oil, this is a sweet and salty treat anyone would love. 63 Water St., Warren. 401-247-7100.
Shayna's Gourmet Cupcakes These succulent chocolate covered strawberries contain a sweet surprise – cinnamon. The dark chocolate is topped with a white chocolate drizzle that has a subtle spicy flavor which really pairs wells with the sweet, mellow flavor of the berries. Definitely a tasty, unique alternative to a plain old day box of valentines day chocolates. 755 Fall River Ave., Seekonk. 774-901-265.
Sweet Lorraine’s This cute little package packs a punch. These “Burning Passion” chocolates house a chili ganache within its rich dark chocolate shell. The spice of the filling is subtle but builds with flavor the more we ate. These will definitely spice up anyone’s love life, or appetite for that matter. 211 Waseca Ave., Barrington. 401-694-1128.
