Outdoor events continue to dominate the landscape as we enter a new month, with great happenings all over the state this weekend. We welcome August with carnivals, live music, cooking and wellness classes. Have a great weekend!

The Charlestown Seafood Festival is an extravaganza full of Rhode Island’s best eats with a side of local art, entertainment, and amusement rides. Whether you’re in the mood for a lobster roll, chowder or steamers, you’ll be in the right place! Aug. 1-3, Charlestown

The historic Newport Jazz Festival returns to Fort Adams State Park this weekend with four stages, delicious food, local vendors, and performances from leading artists including The Roots, Janelle Monae, Thee Sacred Souls, and Jacob Collier. Aug. 1-3, Newport

Food trucks and amusement rides await at the Holy Trinity Annual Carnival. Celebrate the festivities with a fireworks show and check out a massive yard sale on Saturday, while enjoying thrills with Rockwell Amusements all weekend long. July 30-Aug. 2, Woonsocket

Bank of America’s Museums on Us® returns with free admission to three Rhode Island cultural gems, including the newly reopened International Tennis Hall of Fame in Newport, the Providence Children’s Museum, and the RISD Museum. August 2-3, Newport and Providence

Bridging the Gap is a jazz dance and music festival hosted by Salve Regina University and curated by One Jazz Collective. The festival, which includes performances, workshops, and public lectures, aims to bridge the gap between jazz dance and jazz music. August 2-3, Newport 

SATURDAY, August 2

Phantom Farms Brewing has an epic day of live music with The Expendables. The band’s mixture of reggae, rock, ska, and punk styles will keep you energized as you sip on refreshing craft beers and delicious eats from local food trucks. 3-9pm, Cumberland

Get cooking with a Rustic Italian Cooking Class presented by Taste Buds Kitchen. The evening features a homemade tour of traditional Italian plates with chicken parmesan, risotto, and cannoli rolls on the menu. Come hungry! 7:30-9:30pm, East Greenwich

Singapore Swing is a dazzling black-tie affair held at the historic Rosecliff Mansion on Bellevue Avenue. The flora and fauna-inspired event will celebrate environmental philanthropy making it an enchanting evening for a great cause. 7pm, Newport





SUNDAY, August 3

If you’re in the mood for a high-energy workout this weekend, Sweat Fest at India Point Park is the place to be. The day’s schedule includes workouts, wellness activities, and more in an afternoon to get your blood pumping. Don’t miss the vendors and live DJ! 10am-1pm, Providence

Goth Yoga combines sounds from new and dark waves with wellness for a truly unique afternoon. The outdoor event welcomes participants of all levels. Tickets include one free beer to help you surrender to the movements. 1-2pm, Providence
