A True Taste of China

With two locations in Johnston and North Providence, Red Ginger is a popular restaurant that serves authentic Chinese food. “We’re originally from Hong Kong,” says co-owner Sally Ng, who owns and operates the business with her family. “We really wanted to bring the true tastes of our cuisine and culture to Rhode Island.” 

Not only is the cuisine authentic at Red Ginger, so is the expert preparation. “We make most everything from scratch, and we don’t use artificial ingredients at all,” says Sally.  Handmade dumplings, steamed whole fish and made-from-scratch noodles are just a few of the specialties being made daily in the kitchen. Red Ginger’s approach is healthy when possible, such as using imported Chinese herbs and fresh, local ingredients, offering a wide selection of gluten-free options and steaming or sauteing fish, chicken and meat.

Something for Everyone

The impressive menu has something for every taste. Popular American- inspired entrees include General Tso’s Chicken, Peking Duck, Lemon Shrimp, Mongolian Beef and Hong Kong-style Sweet and Sour Spare Ribs. Traditional Cantonese dishes, offered from the traditional “pink menu,” offer guests a more authentic experience with dishes like Curry Beef Fried Rice, Seafood Chow Mein and Lamb Stew with Chinese Herbs The two locations offer an incredibly-priced luncheon special every day from 11am-3pm where you can get an entree with an appetizer or soup combo for less than $7. Whether you enjoy a meal in their family-friendly restaurant or order take out for a meal on the go, you’re bound to have a delicious experience at Red Ginger. 

A Local Staple: Red Ginger has been wowing guests for 17 years in Johnston and recently celebrated their first year in North Providence.
