Don't let the name fool you: Oak St. B&B is no quaint bed and breakfast. Instead, it's a casual, fun restaurant serving the two best B's: breakfast and burgers. If you're looking for a hearty breakfast or mouthwatering burger in a funky, fresh, clean and casual atmosphere, Oak St. is the place for you. It's gourmet food at "greasy spoon" prices.

Oak St.'s famous "hangover" breakfast selections are served with a slight Southern twang – and proper golden hash browns. The menu is diverse, ranging from the local (The Journey Cakes are their version of johnnycakes served with clover honey) to the eclectic (a breakfast burrito with hash browns, cheesy eggs and choice of meat), and from savory (the Cheese Steak omelet) to the sweet (Portuguese Toast battered with cinnamon, vanilla and cornflakes). Their omelets are fluffy and fresh baked, served with hash browns and toast.

For lunch they serve a variety of soups, salads and sandwiches, but what you really want is a burger. Each burger is handmade fresh, grilled on sweet onions and served medium on a Portuguese sweet roll, with a side of handcut "Oak Chips." No wonder they've won "Best Burger" three years running. Variations range from the simple (the Oak Burger with American cheese, pickles, lettuce and signature Oak Sauce) to the surprising (The Elvis is topped with bacon, American cheese and peanut butter; it's shown above as the "Asian Elvis" kicked up with sriracha, jalapeños, bean sprouts and fresh cilantro). For an extreme taste, try the HCL Burger with chili, cheese, jalapeños and ghost chili sauce. (Ghost chilis are among the hottest peppers on earth.)

Oak St. B&B also does dinner on Friday and Saturday evenings, as well as breakfast and lunch delivery – even catering for your next special occasion.

Can't-Miss Dish: Eggs Benedicto: eggs, fresh Westerly Packing soupy (the town's own unique Italian sausage variety), onions and peppers on Italian toast with tomato basil hollandaise.

Insider Tip: Oak St. B&B is open for dinner until 8pm, Thursday-Saturday, and on Friday evenings they offer fish and chips.
