80 local businesses unite for a month-long festival with exclusive deals, community events, and holiday magic

Newport’s Thames Street buzzes with holiday excitement as ThamesGiving returns, set to light up the season with a celebration of local shopping, dining, and community giving. From

November 8-30, this nearly month-long event unites 80 local businesses offering festive activities, exclusive deals, and new experiences – all infused with holiday cheer and community spirit.

This year, ThamesGiving is more interactive than ever, featuring the Copper Pumpkin Passport Scavenger Hunt with a tech-savvy twist. Shoppers collect stickers by spotting hidden pumpkins in participating stores and completing brief surveys via QR codes along the way. Those who gather all stickers enter a drawing for a grand prize, packed with gift certificates and treasures from Newport’s top spots. As event organizer Michele Gallagher explains, “This event is about bringing residents and visitors together in a fun way to enjoy Newport’s unique charm and support local businesses.”

The festivities don’t stop with the scavenger hunt. Thames Street will also host live street musicians, a ThamesGiving Artisan Market at Provence sur Mer, and a Copper Pumpkin Extravaganza on Bowen’s Wharf. Plus, dog lovers can participate in the Costume Dog Parade, hosted by The Black Dog, for some festive four-legged fun.

New this year, ThamesGiving expands to nearby streets and wharves, creating a fully immersive holiday experience. Visitors can look forward to themed menus, live music, and chances to give back, as many local businesses donate a portion of their sales to community causes. As Gallagher explains, “It’s about community engagement and making Newport a must-visit holiday destination.” For more information and updates, follow along on Instagram at @thamesgiving_npt or visit Thamesgiving.com.
