Weekend Best Bets

Mother's Day weekend is here, and we've got plenty of ideas to get mom happy and you busy.

Start off by planning your Mother's Day meal. The much buzzed-about Trafford in Warren in planning a special meal for moms, as is Westport's picturesque Bittersweet Farm. If you want to provide mom with lunch and a day on the water, hop aboard the Majestic for a luncheon and cruise around the bay.

If the mother (or grandmother) in your life is looking to spend a day with the wee ones, head into Providence where both the Roger Williams Park Zoo and Providence Children's Museum will be offering free admission for mothers with children.

Maybe you'd like to offer mom a little arts and entertainment to go with that card and flowers. 2nd Story Theatre will keep her entertained with The Divine Sister, a spoof of all those Hollywood nun stories. Perhaps she'd prefer some sweet music courtesy of the Bohemian Quartet performing with the equally sweet children of the Community String Project. Gallery Eleven in Bristol is opening a new exhibit if your mom is more inclined towards art appreciation. And finally, if you want to take mom to the movies, check out newportFILM's May Mini-Fest.
