The Weekend Rundown: September 8-10

Posted

All Weekend: It’s Pumpkin Palooza time at Frerichs Farm in Warren. The harvest festival happens every weekend in September and October, and features free fun like Charlie Brown’s Pumpkin Patch and exploring the Old West town. There are also rides in the Magic Pumpkin Coach, pumpkin painting, DIY scarecrows, rides on Snap the Dragon and more.

All Weekend: Don your Barbie and G.I. Joe finery for Hascon, a convention celebrating all things Hasbro at the Convention Center. There will be as many My Little Ponies and Transformers as you can handle, plus a performance by Flo Rida and appearances by Stan Lee and Daya.

September 8: The Quahogs, Tall Teenagers, The Silks and other Providence bands are throwing a benefit at The Columbus Theatre for the Hurricane Harvey relief effort. Get out for a night of great music and tasty local brews while helping out your fellow Americans.

September 9: Raise a glass to the East Bay Food Pantry and Thrift Shop at Uncorked! The evening of dining and dancing at the Bristol Maritime Center is a fundraiser for the food pantry to support its eighth year of helping neighbors in need.

September 9: Great art is a steal at The Great Art Heist, a fundraiser of the South County Art Association where local artists sell their works to benefit SCAA programming throughout the year.

September 9: Head to Depot Square Park in Hopkinton for the final Music In the Valley performance of the season, presented by the Hopkinton Land Trust. The Marching Milkmen and the Barley Hoppers provide the soundtrack for a family-friendly evening of folk, country and rockabilly music.

September 9: Travel to over 30 countries in one afternoon when the RI Heritage Day Festival takes over the State House lawn for an afternoon of food, music, dance, costumes, and arts and crafts celebrating cultures from all over the world.

September 9: Put all of those episodes of American Ninja Warrior to good use at Boldrdash when it comes to Rocky Point. It’s part race, part obstacle course, part bragging rights for at least a month after you’ve finished.

September 10: See Westerly in a different way at the Surftown Half Marathon. The fast and flat course runs along Misquamicut Beach and through Watch Hill – and there’s also a 5k for non-marathoners.

September 10: Pop in Providence gets far out for the Roky Erickson Psychedelic Ice Cream Social. See Roky Erickson and the Hounds of Baskerville in the intimate, vintage-themed venue, enjoy delicious ice cream pops from Mama’s Pop Shop and feel good knowing that some of the proceeds will go to the Hurricane Harvey Relief Fund.
