People may go to Matunuck to sit by the water and enjoy the beach, or to catch the ferry to Block Island from Point Judith, or maybe even to visit the famous oyster bar. But once summer is over and the tourists pack up their beach umbrellas for the season, the true Rhode Islander knows that Matunuck still has fun in store. The Taste of Southern Rhode Island will return to Clark Farms, an epicurean evening with over 40 vendors, from Tapped Apple Winery and Back 40 to Whalers Brewing Company and George’s of Galilee. Sample food, beer, and wine from some of the more revered culinary experts in South County. Presented by the Southern RI Chamber of Commerce, this year’s event is expected to draw 1,000 attendees. While Thursday promises to be all about the food and drink, Friday night is all about the dance floor. Make sure to wear your dancing shoes as the band Sugar plays. But don’t worry if you just like to tap your toes and listen with a plateful of goodies or maybe a cocktail, there will be a cash bar and plenty of food available. October 18, Clark Farms, Matunuck
