Reading and Racing For Good

Two ways to help others this month

Posted

Reading with Robin’s eponymous host will be holding an in-person reading session at the Dune’s Club this month to raise money for the B’s Ride charity fund. Summer Reading with Robin will feature pieces from Jane Austen, Emily Liebert, Elin Hilderbrand, Charles Dubow and Beatriz Williams, which will be read while guests sample signature RWR cocktails and hors d’oeuvres. There will also be a book sale and a silent auction during the opening cocktail hour to further support B’s Ride, which is a charity to fund a ramp-ready minivan for local eight-year-old resident Benjamin McDermott. Benjamin suffers from spinal muscular atrophy, which inhibits his ability to walk and use a regular wheelchair. June 24. $30. 6-9:30pm. 137 Boston Neck Road, Narragansett.

Join survivors, racers and the American Cancer Society for the Relay for Life of South County. The event starts at 6pm and honors cancer survivors, the caregivers who helped them through treatment and their family and supporters. Since cancer never sleeps, the relay will last through the night and wrap the following morning at 9am. June 19-20. 6pm-9am. 301 Curtis Corner Road, Wakefield.
