Nick Pini

A Beautiful Introduction

Posted

Some designers create color stories for their collections. Nick Pini creates entire story lines to inspire his fashion. A recent graduate of MassArt in Boston, Nick got his first taste of apparel sketching in high school. “From there it became my favorite thing to do,” he says, “Creating beautiful people with beautiful clothes and beautiful lives. I like to make up stories about who I’m designing for. My inspiration comes from growing up and learning about myself and the world around me.”

For his debut runway collection at StyleWeek, the story doesn’t disappoint. Nick describes his models as “socialite biker chicks.” He explains, “I came up with this story about a girl who rides out to the middle of the desert on the back of her boyfriend’s bike. The two of them get in a fight and he leaves her there. Stranded, and just as she starts to lose hope of surviving, a group of glittering, spike and stud-wearing biker chicks pull up and make her a part of their gang.” To complete the looks, Nick is using the rough-edged glamour of Providence-designed House of Cach jewelry. He promises, “They have quite a few surprises in store.” Nick Pini will be presenting at 7pm on Saturday, February 2, at the Providence Biltmore.
