Bristol celebrates another busy Fourth of July season

As Independence Day nears, Rhode Island is gearing up for Bristol’s annual Fourth of July celebration. With all the local celebrations happening, it is nearly impossible not to enjoy the holiday this year.

June 28-July 3: Bristol’s 2012 Fourth of July Concert Series at Independence Park

Kick off your holiday celebration with a series of concerts in the park. Relax and enjoy the true spirit of Independence Day.

June 28: 7:00 PM – John Allmark's East Side Horns featuring Mac Odom and Chill cover all your soul, Motown, pop and R&B favorites.

June 29: 7:00 PM – The 88th Army Band. This 30-member concert band puts on a patriotic concert of Independence Day tunes followed by a program of modern rock 'n roll.

June 30: 6:30 PM – Trinity. Acoustic sounds and three part harmonies are the signature of this trio. Trinity will delight the audience with their performance of classic hits from the '60s to the present.
7:45 PM – The Hitmen. The Hitmen are hitting the stage for a high-energy performance playing the greatest sounds of the '60s, '70s and '80s.

July 1: 6:30PM – The Jesse Liam Band. A father-son duo, plus band, the Jesse Liam Band is one to watch as they make their way to fame with the release of their second album.
7:45PM – Detroit Breakdown. A mix of eclectic musicians from some of the coolest bands in the Northeast, this is a performance you won’t want to miss.

July 2: 6:30PM – The Superchief Trio. This “dance-party band”  has a huge selection of covers and musical genres to get you on the floor.
7:45PM –Bellevue Cadillac. For those who like swing punctuated with jazz and blues, Bellevue Cadillac will make your heart thump and your feet move.

July 3: 6:30PM – Bristol County Chorus. A church choir that wanted to sing even more, the Bristol County Chorus has become an outstanding community chorus with a wide variety of tunes in its repertoire.
7:45PM –The British Invasion. Covering all your favorite hits from the heyday of the British Invasion, from the Beatles and byeond..

June 28-July 4: Rockwell Amusements Carnival
The carnival is rolling into town – enjoy amusement rides, games and great food. Bring your family for a great time on the Town Commons.

June 29: Fourth of July Ball
Enjoy dinner, dancing and live entertainment from Ed Massa Music at this elegant event on the beautiful grounds of
 Mt. Hope Farm overlooking Narragansett Bay.

June 30-July 1: Patriotic Decorating Contest
Decorate your house and win some cash for your patriotic spirit. This year’s contest is open to all Bristol residents who wish to participate, free of charge.

June 30: Island Escape Raffle
The drawing for the Island Escape grand prize will be pulled on Saturday, June 30. Enter your name to win by buying a ticket ($65 per ticket).

July 3: DCI Drum Corps Show – Located at Mt. Hope High School, the show will begin at 7pm.

July 3rd: Fireworks – The fireworks are visible from any point around BristolHarbor, and provide a magnificent show to continue the Fourth of July celebrations.

July 4th: The Patriotic Exercises to kick-off the 227th Bristol Independence Day Parade begin at 8:30am in front of Colt School in downtown Bristol.
