Fall is for Foodies

Enjoy an autumn meal at East Greenwich Restaurant Week, Taste of Block Island or Westerly Restaurant Week this month

Fall is here and while we're sad to see summer go we couldn't be more excited about a new season of flavors. Cooler air means hearty dishes, spiced cocktails and pumpkin everything. What better way to celebrate than enjoying lavish prix-fixe meals at some of South County's hottest restaurants? Lucky for you, there are plenty foodie events happening right now.

East Greenwich Restaurant Week is upon us. While the week kicked off on September 20, you still have the weekend to enjoy it. Pick from waterside dining, causal gourmet and Main Street elegance. Find out more about the 15 participating restaurants here. Through Sept. 29.

Westerly Fall Restaurant Week is back again for its annual bout of food-loving extravagance. With more than 20 restaurants throughout Westerly participating, such as The Brazen Hen, 84 Tavern On Canal and The Twisted Vine, it’s a fabulous culinary cornucopia offering affordable three-course prix-fixe meals ($15 for lunch and $25 for dinner). Sept. 29-Oct. 6. For a full list of participating restaurants, visit their website.

The tourists are gone, which makes the fall a perfect time to visit Block Island. We can't think of a better way to do so than by checking out The 5th Annual Taste of Block Island. Attendees will benefit from discounted lodging, retails sales and tastings. After all that indulging guests can participate in the island's many activtivies. Perhaps work off your dinner with a shoreline bike ride? For more information visit their website. Sept. 27-29.
