Eskimo King Gives Patriotic Kids A Free Cone

Eskimo King offers free cones for pint-sized patriots

July tends to bring out the patriotic side in everyone. More than any other time of year, it finds us reveling in our nation’s commitment to truth, justice and meats cooked over an all-American propane flame. But for kids in particular, there’s a lot to be excited about.

June is still too close to the previous school year, a time for licking academic wounds and steeling one’s self for skinned knees and sun burns, while August is the harbinger of a new school year yet to come, but July... July is the purest stretch of vacation. July is 31 days of true summer bliss, unstuck from the realities of homework, pop quizzes and Salisbury Steak Wednesdays.

Eskimo King makes July extra sweet for kids 12 and under. Every Monday from 4-7pm, kids who can recite the Pledge of Allegiance from memory (no helping, Mom and Dad!) will be treated to a free ice cream cone with red, white and blue sprinkles; the next best perk to citizenship until they’re old enough to vote or get a tax refund. Eskimo King – a monarch in name only, unlike that creep George III – is doing this alongside ice cream shops across the country, and has been participating in this national campaign since 2011.
