New England cuisine with a worldly sensibility

About the Restaurant
Chair 5, the restaurant in Narragansett’s new boutique hotel The Break, has only been open for a year, but it’s already making a splash. Offering New England cuisine with international influences, in a kitchen where nearly everything is made from scratch, Chair 5 is worth a visit even if you’re not staying at the hotel.

Chef Basil Yu, a native New Englander, is Asian American and brings an Asian influence to the restaurant’s cuisine, adding creative twists to Rhode Island classics. His New England Clam Chowder has bonito flakes on top, his ketchup has a kick of goji spice to it, his clam cakes are a totally unique take: a funnel clamcake with bacon powder and lemongrass remoulade. Chef Yu offers diners his own unique take on beachside bistro classics. These are familiar, favorite comfort foods, but unlike anything you’ve had before.

Chair 5 is inside the chic, surfer-themed Break, but also offers two outdoor dining options: poolside, or upstairs on the roof deck, overlooking the ocean. All of the restaurant’s locations are casual, but the roof deck is even moreso. Don’t be shy making a visit after a day at the beach to get a little bit more sun, a lobster roll and a delicious cocktail.

Fun in the Sun: Chair 5 is named after a lifeguard chair on Narragansett Town Beach that’s a local favorite gathering spot.

Make a Splash: In addition to the restaurant, Chair 5 also offers poolside dining at The Break’s pool, and has a rooftop deck with a limited menu.
