The story of Bistro 22 is the story of two brothers with a passion for food. Co-owners Carlo and Gennaro Slaughter combined their extensive knowledge of the local culinary landscape - Carlo at Johnson and Wales University, and as the former owner of D’Carlo’s Restaurant; Jerry at the Culinary Institute of America and in hotels and restaurants - to open a casual, delicious neighborhood bistro in Garden City.

Bistro 22 is a cozy, laid-back spot for delicious lunch or dinner. Nestled among the chic shops of Garden City, it’s the perfect stop to recharge in the middle of an afternoon of shopping, or as a romantic date destination.

For lunch, keep things light with creative salads, like the Bistro 22 Wedge with iceberg lettuce, bacon, red onion, tomato and gorgonzola dressing; the Caprese with house-made mozzarella, heirloom tomatoes, pumpkin seed basil pesto and a balsamic reduction; or the Baby Spinach with melon, toasted pistachios, feta and an apricot vinaigrette. Add chicken, grilled shrimp, salmon or hangar steak to any salad to round out a meal. Or, choose from their delicious sandwiches, like: the 22 Burger, with smoked cheddar, caramelized onions, house-smoked thick bacon, arugula and truffle aioli; or the house-smoked Salmon Grilled Cheese with creme fraiche, dill, chives, red onion and gruyere. Flatbreads with toppings like roasted seasonal vegetables or house-made mozzarella and basil pesto are perfect for sharing. But if you’re on the hungrier side, many dinner entrees are available in lunch portions, with some special additions like Grilled Shrimp over orzo salad with feta, kalamata olives, cherry tomatoes, red onion and red wine vinaigrette; or Narragansett Beer-battered Fish and Chips, with house slaw.

For dinner, start things off right with a Bruschetta Trio of roasted garlic and herb ricotta, caprese and fig jam and cambozola; Braised Littlenecks with chorizo, grilled red onions, garlic and potatoes and Narragansett lager; or Yukon
Gold Potato Hash with chorizo, caramelized onions, roasted red potatoes and a poached egg. But make sure to leave room for your entree, because it’s going to be hard to leave anything on your plate. Selections include Ricotta-stuffed Gnocchi with pulled short rib and mushroom ragout, finished with truffle oil; Grilled Hangar Steak Frites with an arugula salad and herb compound butter; Fettuccine Jambalaya with chicken, chorizo, shrimp, tomatoes and peppers in a Cajun cream sauce; Herb-crusted Codfish with artichoke hearts, oven dried tomatoes and spinach; Pan-seared Scallops over smoked ham and pea risotto; or a Grilled Pork Chop with chorizo hash, fruit salsa and a sweet and spicy jalapeno glaze.

Even if you can’t make room for dessert - which, trust us, you should - don’t end your meal without a cocktail. Bistro 22’s cocktail menu is one of the best in Cranston, with selections like the Johnny Ola (Bacardi white rum, house-made watermelon syrup, lemon juice, mint and fresh lime), the Agador (Cuervo Gold, Cointreau, St. Germain, lime and orange juices) and the Burnett (Lazy Eight Black Tea Vodka, Strawberry Meyer Lemonade and fresh mint). But don’t take our word for it. Try Bistro 22 for yourself.
