Holly Vine likes to cook - so much so that when she and husband Charlie moved from the United Kingdom to the East Side of Providence, she started the lifestyle blog Holly Likes to Cook. “I test a lot of recipes,” she says, so she and Charlie renovated the kitchen to be an ideal cooking space. “We wanted to keep a non-scary budget - it’s amazing how quickly these things add up! - so we chose basic cabinets and tile, and a simple butcher’s block. We gave it our own look with the accessories and accent pieces, like my collection of glass storage jars from flea markets, which are practical but become a decorative element on their own, and the bits and bobs I get back in England to bring a touch of Britain into my space. Of course, you can’t have an English cake stand without a proper Victoria sponge.” Her trick for brightening up the space at the change of seasons? Fresh flowers. “It always makes the house feel clean and fresh,” Holly says. “I never have proper vases, so they always end up in one of my jugs. This beauty is from Stock Culinary Goods on Hope Street in Providence.”
