All Aboard!

Posted

From November 16 - December 23, the Historic Blackstone Valley Train Depot transforms into a Christmas Wonderland to present their highly anticipated annual Polar Express Train Ride.

Adults and children are encouraged to don their warmest winter pajamas and arrive early to the whimsically decorated Train Depot, which transports guests to a world of red-and-green, snowflakes, wrapped presents, and lots of Christmas spirit. Pose for photos with characters from the show in front of a beautiful, custom-made backdrop of the massive steam engine tugging through falling snow. Watch your little ones color festive illustrations and write letters to Santa in the kid’s area. Stroll through The Polar Express gift shop, which sells official merchandise including teddy bears, santa hats, bathrobes, scarves, and ornaments, amongst other holiday gear.

When the conductor shouts “All aboard!”, however, is when the real fun begins, and you hop on a train to the North Pole. For 90 minutes, you’ll be whisked away to the enchanted world of a Christmas classic: Settle in for a reading of the classic children’s story, sing-a-longs of catchy holiday tunes, hot chocolate served up in a souvenir Polar Express mug, the giving of silver bells and golden tickets, cookies, games, and a visit from Santa where he’ll deliver the first gift of Christmas to every child.

When you’ve arrived at your destination and exit the train, you’ll be met with the first “snow” – faux white flurries falling softly in a wintery farewell. A curious sense of wonder captures both kids and parents alike, who leave the station filled with the feeling they’ve experienced nothing short of Christmas magic. Woonsocket
