Three area acts in the local and national spotlight
With the recent rise of so many Providence bands to national prominence — Deer Tick, the Low Anthem and the Barr Brothers all come to mind — it’s difficult to keep a finger on the pulse of what’s happening in our backyards. A number of acts have sprung up recently right here in the East Bay, some of them more ready-made for national touring and notoriety than others, but all poised to turn heads in one way or another with sounds ranging from ethereal Appalachian folk to grungy, gut-stinging rock and roll.
