  • Don your snowsuit and hit the slopes at Yawgoo Valley, all weekend long: They're officially open for the season and offering daily skiing, snowboarding and snow tubing. Rhode Island’s only downhill ski area also offer lessons for kids and adults. 

  • Cruise over the ice in a bumper car at the Providence Rink at Alex and Ani City Center: They're reopening on Sunday and offering bumper cars by reservation, daily lessons, plus penguin skate helpers for kids and snowman skate helpers for adults who haven’t quite mastered the ice. 

  • Hit the ice at Westerly's Washington Trust Community Skating Center: Offering daily ice time with dedicated blocks for hockey, figure skating, lessons and public ice skating.

  • January 6: Get galactic with Starman, a David Bowie tribute, at Courthouse Center for the Arts: David Bowie may be gone, but his legend lives on. Starman, at Courthouse Center for the Arts in West Kingston, is a Bowie tribute that has been making headlines up and down the East Coast.

  • January 6: Heat things up with a monthly cajun dance at Sandy Woods Farm: Featuring local favorite Magnolia, this monthly event also includes a lesson before the dancing starts, in addition to being BYOB.

  • January 6-7: Hop on Save The Bay's Newport Seal Cruise: Get a chance to see the adorable maritime mammals that call our waters home in the colder months.

  • January 7: Channel your inner artist at Super Art Sunday at the RISD MuseumEnjoy a day of free, family friendly art activities with Lines of Thought: Drawing from Michaelangelo to Now from the British Museum.
